A Lantern Named Lenka

On January 6th, 2026, my granddaughter Lenka was born.

A new light entered our family, a lantern glowing with promise.

And for me, it was a truly special day — I became a grandfather for the very first time.

Her name, rooted in Slavic tradition, is especially common in Czech and Slovak cultures.

Often a diminutive of Helena or Magdalena, Lenka means light, torch, bright one.

It symbolizes illumination, positivity, and hope — qualities that feel perfectly aligned with the joy she brings into our lives.

For me, this meaning is more than linguistic; it’s a reminder of what we all carry into the new year.

Light is not only something we see, but something we share.

Hope is not only something we feel, but something we nurture.

Lenka’s arrival is a living symbol of both.
